The cost of drug addiction treatment, like all health and medical costs, is on the rise. Both outpatient drug treatment programs and residential drug treatment centers in Ontario come with hefty fees that most in the throes of drug addiction are unable to afford. If you are planning on using Medicare for drug rehab you may find that your plan only provides for a percentage of coverage for private drug detoxification, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and other certified programs in drug addiction treatment. Few, however, provide coverage for drug addiction interventions or sober living homes after drug rehab.

Unfortunately, even if a drug treatment center in Ontario takes Medicare, many who need treatment for drug abuse are less likely statistically to have any medical insurance coverage at all. It is estimated that 15 percent of adults over the age of 18 have no coverage at all and that 30 percent rely solely upon government and federally funded health coverage services like Medicaid and Medicare. Research shows that about 31 percent of those who felt they needed treatment for drug addiction could not enroll in residential drug treatment or an outpatient drug treatment program for lack of funds and insurance coverage.
